Lumineers and Porcelain Veneers
Lumineers and Porcelain Veneers
Lumineers:
Now that our office offers Lumineers, you can have the smile you have always wanted with less time and far more comfort than ever imagined. The Lumineers are digitally designed to be as thin as a contact lens, while still being strong enough to handle every day wear and tear. As a result, they can be seamlessly applied over your current teeth for the perfect, natural-looking smile you have always dreamed of having. Lumineers are the #1 patient preferred veneer system in the world.
How are Lumineers done?
On your first visit, the dentist will take a digital impression of your upper and lower teeth. He will then send the impressions to the Lumineers laboratory along with photos and patient radiographs to ensure the very best result. Unlike traditional veneers, there is no need for excessive drilling which will take down parts of the existing healthy tooth structure.
On your second visit, which usually occurs a couple weeks after the first visit, the dentist will place the recently fabricated Lumineers in the patients’ mouth to ensure they fit properly.
Once the doctor decides the Lumineers are a good fit, the teeth will be slightly prepared for placement. Once this is completed, the Lumineers are bonded onto the teeth, one by one. After being placed, the dentist just has to check the bite and make sure all the Lumineers are balanced and do not stick out too far to eliminate chipping in the future. Now that they are cleared by the doctor, the patient is ready to walk out of the office with the fantastic smile they have always dreamed of.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teethfor appearance purposes. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. In addition to resisting stains better than resin veneers, porcelain veneers also mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth, which allows the porcelain to look more natural than other products. Not only do porcelain veneers look like real teeth, but they also have many other purposes as well.
In addition to hiding the discoloration of a patient’s teeth, porcelain veneers are also used for many more purposes. When teeth are chipped, broken or worn down, veneers can hide these flaws by making the teeth look new again. To fix teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped, veneers can be used to give the appearance of having a smile with all perfectly looking teeth. One of the largest reasons for porcelain veneers, however, is to take care of the gaps between the teeth of a patient. Veneers can be made with a larger width than the natural teeth in order to hide all the spaces between a patient’s teeth, giving them a full, perfect looking smile.
How Durable are Porcelain Veneers?
With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for many years to come.Dr. Demetriou will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available. After receiving porcelain veneers, refraining from using your teeth as tools to open and cut things will greatly prolong their life. If accidental breakage or damage occurs, it is usually possible to replace only the veneer involved.
