For many years, the only treatment options available for people with missing teeth were bridges and dentures. Today, many options exist to replace missing teeth, but only dental implants can provide the feel, function, and appearance of natural teeth. Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that provide a strong foundation for replacement teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants are tiny titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.Dental implants are changing the way people live! Dental Implant Procedure

If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history. During this consultation visit, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by either Dr. Demetriou or by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon referred by our practice. Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.

The next step in the implant procedure is to insert the root implant. The root implant is a small post made of titanium, which is placed into the bone socket of the missing tooth. As the jawbone heals, it grows around the implanted metal post, anchoring it securely in the jaw. The healing process can take anywhere from six to twelve weeks. Once the implant has bonded to the jawbone, a small connector post, called an abutment, is attached to the post to securely hold the new tooth. Once this is done, the dental implant is in place and is ready for the replacement tooth. A dental crown will be manufactured to be placed on the dental implant. Because the crown is made to look exactly like your natural teeth, your smile will not show any signs of yourdental restoration.
